Commentary On "Are Women Just Crazy Liars?"

In Kelsey's blog, she expresses about how people should educate themselves on the #metoo movement. I do agree on the topic, as a woman I do feel that we are still stuck behind men. Even with rape cases, there are still men being led off with no time in jail, and just a slap on the hand. More often the men that are usually white are the ones that face little chances of facing any charges and point the fingers to the victim because he is "supposedly" supposed to be a good person. Yet, people of color without hesitation serve high sentences. People do need to educate themselves with these problems that we are facing in modern times at high rates like its "normal", and it's an amazing thing to have a lot more women speak out and have a voice. Women speak out to make a change, not to just say "me too" because everyone else did. The sexualization of women is what they are trying to change.

Migrant Caravan

The homicide rate in Honduras is twice as high as anywhere else, with their government being controlled by gang violence. With such a high crime rate, there are people that are seeking asylum; protection granted from the nation to someone who left their native country for political refugee for shelter and protection from danger in their home country. As a nation that has that ability to help these people, the government decided to keep them out. By using having troops setting up camps to control the border and even to try to close the border so that even legally no one can pass through. Leaving people more discouraged, because they are trying to leave a life that can lead to the end of their and their kids. The government pushes them away and pushes them out, traumatizing the people with tear gas and other threats. People will have their own opinion about the situation with whats going on. Yet, as a citizen of this country how can we not sympathize that there are worse situations that happen in other areas in the world, and we choose to ignore it. Acting like this isn’t our problem when we are part of the problem on how we treat people even if they aren’t from the same place we were born. The border control is becoming so strict and seems to be causing more chaos.

Commentary On "Not Enough Voters"

In The Red, White, and Blue blog, Not Enough Voters. Voter Registration was said should have easier availability to register, I agree on how many people especially younger people see it as a burden. This year, I have seen a lot of young people register to vote. I have seen that college has implemented a lot of resources around each campus. I do think that there could be an even easier way or even a way to inform people about the steps of registering. As of now, you could go online to fill out the form but it will still have to be mailed to a certain office. The convince to what you said, that it would be a good idea to apply with issued ID's. I feel like that is a good source to implement the right to register to vote. especially when people have to renew any forms of ID at any time. Also, the people that aren't put in the system for issued ID's, should be able to apply online with their social security number to show that they are proven, citizens. Your Idea could be a great reason to make it vastly easier to approach, then to stray away from registering.

DUMP TRUMP?

Since Donald Trump was elected president, there has been more racial incidents being reported in the media. You begin to see more and more oppression in minority's, Black and Hispanic especially. There have been a countless amount of open racism toward people of color, because of the people that follow trumps ideals. Other than Donald Trump being an almost scapegoat for racist white supremacist here in the United States, the way he conducts himself as well as a reason that I'm not favorable of him. He is rude, vulgar with the words and the context he chooses to share on social media and interviews. As a president, he doesn't seem to filter what he shares on social media. For example like Twitter, for being a president you would think that you'd at least post professional messages. Rather than he shares his egotistic comments. He also does not respect women and since he has been in office, women have been being open on sexual assault and how it is to walk around as a woman in modern day because of the norms he put out on how he treats women. Trump is also against the homosexual community, for example, his idea of banning transgender people from serving in the military. It seems like his whole campaign was based on lies and the greed for money, just like most Republicans. He should focus more on civil rights, rather than his finances. Trumps seems to have better luck as a businessman than a president.

Is Americas Voting Being Hacked?

On October 19, 2018, New York Times published this editorial article. The editorial board takes on the vulnerabilities of the system on voting systems and voter hacking. I had read their views and I do agree, that voting early can help detect any irregularities. There are always going to be someone that is going to try and beat any system that tries to advance the security to be unreachable. The paper trail for every vote would be helpful because there would be actual evidence of the vote. Unlike going into a system and not even knowing if it has been tampered with. So, I do agree that it is a key to fixing the problem. Funding and looking into cybersecurity is a key solution as well. The only thing is that finding the solution with technology and security can be challenging still. Even as time is out in, the more people improve our technology the more someone else can improve their knowledge of technology. As for example in the article, “at a hacking convention, an 11-year-old boy broke into a replica of Florida’s states election website and altered the votes totals records there. It had taken him less than ten minutes l. In my opinion, the voting systems seem beneficial for a faster counting process, but going back to paper ballots or even voting early can achieve a lot more. Then causing trouble like these machines. To put an end to any ability for votes to be tampered with so we can know that our votes are being accounted for properly.

Who are we voting for?

Recently all over the news, we have started to see more coverage on women's issues. From discrimination in the workplace to rape victims coming forth, and from criticism on women's health. One of the most recent scandals has to do with the rape accusations against Judge Brett Kavanaugh. Accusations like this against office officials should be a major concern for all people because we could be voting the wrong people into office. I recently found an article on Times about Kavanuah on how he called contraceptives "abortion-inducing drugs". Where is the separation from church and state here? This is something that needs to be looked at. So we can be causeous on how office official will favor more to their own beliefs.
